Tracking QR Code Scans

Every QR code you create is tracked. See how many scans each code gets and understand which placements work best.

Viewing Scan Data

  1. Go to QR Codes from your dashboard
  2. See scan counts next to each code
  3. Click a code for detailed stats

What's Tracked

For each QR code:

  • Total scans: All-time count
  • Recent scans: Scans over the last 7/30 days
  • Scan timeline: When scans happen

Understanding Your Data

High Scan Count

Your QR code is in a good spot and people are using it. Keep it there!

Low Scan Count

Consider:

  • Is the code visible enough?
  • Is the placement logical?
  • Is the call-to-action clear?
  • Is the code large enough to scan easily?

Scans Over Time

Look for patterns:

  • Spikes during promotions
  • Weekend vs weekday differences
  • Decline might mean code is damaged or moved

Comparing Codes

Create multiple codes for the same destination in different locations:

  • "Menu - Table Tent"
  • "Menu - Front Counter"
  • "Menu - Window"

Compare scan counts to see which placement works best.

QR Codes in Website Analytics

QR code scans also appear in your website analytics:

  • Traffic source: "QR Code"
  • See which pages get QR traffic
  • Compare to other traffic sources

Tips for Better Tracking

Name Codes Descriptively

"Front Door Poster" tells you more than "QR Code 3".

One Code per Location

Don't reuse the same code everywhere. Create separate codes to track each placement.

Document Placements

Keep notes on where each code is placed. When reviewing data, you'll know what's working.

Using Data to Improve

| Finding | Action | |---------|--------| | Table tents get 10x counter scans | Focus on table placements | | Window code barely scanned | Move inside, make larger, or add call-to-action | | Scans dropped suddenly | Check if code is damaged or removed | | Certain days peak | Tie promotions to high-scan days |

Common Questions

How accurate is scan tracking?

Very accurate. Each scan is logged individually.

Do test scans count?

Yes—your own scans count toward the total. Test before printing, and note how many test scans you did.

Can I reset scan counts?

No—counts are cumulative. If you need fresh tracking, create a new code.

Are bot scans filtered out?

Basic filtering removes obvious bot traffic, but most QR scans come from real phones.
