Publishing Your Website

You've built something great—now let's share it with the world. Publishing pushes your changes to your live website where customers can see them.

How Publishing Works

Welcome uses a draft → publish workflow:

  • Editing: Changes save as drafts (only you see them)
  • Publishing: Pushes drafts to your live site (everyone sees them)

This lets you make multiple changes, review everything, then publish all at once.

Publishing Your Site

  1. Make your changes in the website builder
  2. Click Save to save your draft
  3. Click Publish when ready
  4. Confirm the publish action
  5. Your site is now live!

What Gets Published

When you publish:

  • All page content and layout changes
  • Navigation updates
  • Design changes (colors, fonts)
  • New pages

Preview Before Publishing

Always preview before publishing:

  1. Click Preview to open your site in a new tab
  2. Check all pages
  3. Test on mobile (resize browser or use phone)
  4. Verify links work
  5. Then publish

First-Time Publishing

Publishing for the first time? Your site goes live at:

  • yourrestaurant.welcomehq.app (default)
  • www.yourrestaurant.com (if you've set up a custom domain)

Share this URL with customers, add it to Google My Business, and link from social media.

Unpublishing Your Site

Need to take your site offline?

  1. Go to Website > Settings
  2. Toggle Site Published off
  3. Your site shows a "Coming Soon" page

Your content isn't deleted—you can republish anytime.

Publishing Specific Pages

You can publish individual pages without publishing everything:

  1. Open the page you edited
  2. Click the page's Publish button
  3. Only that page updates

Useful for quick fixes without pushing unfinished work on other pages.

Common Questions

How long until changes appear?

Usually instant. If you don't see changes:

  • Hard refresh your browser (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R)
  • Clear browser cache
  • Try incognito mode
  • Wait 2-3 minutes for CDN propagation

Can I schedule publishing for later?

Not currently—publishing happens immediately when you click Publish.

What if I publish something wrong?

Make the correction and publish again. There's no "undo publish," but changes go live immediately when you fix them.

Do menu changes require publishing?

Menu changes (items, prices, categories) publish separately through the menu system. Website publishing is for layout and design changes.
