Syncing Menus from POS
After connecting your POS (like Square), you can sync menus to keep Welcome updated with your latest items and prices.
How Sync Works
Menu sync pulls data from your POS into Welcome:
- New items you've added
- Price changes
- Updated descriptions
- New categories
It's a one-way flow: POS → Welcome.
Manual Sync
Pull updates whenever you want:
- Go to Menus > Import (or Sync)
- Click Sync from Square (or your POS)
- Review what's changed
- Accept or skip each change
- Your menu updates
This approach gives you full control—nothing changes without your approval.

Handling Conflicts
What if you've edited something in Welcome that also changed in your POS?
When you sync:
- Welcome shows both versions
- You choose which to keep
- Or merge the best of both
You're always in control of the final result.
After Syncing
Review your menu in Welcome:
- Check that items look right
- Verify prices are correct
- Add any website-specific details (dietary tags, descriptions) that your POS doesn't have
Sync Frequency
How often should you sync?
- After POS updates: Whenever you add items or change prices in your POS
- Regular check-ins: Weekly or monthly to catch anything missed
- Before promotions: Ensure your website matches current offerings
Manual Edits in Welcome
You can edit items in Welcome without syncing:
- Add better descriptions for the web
- Upload higher-quality photos
- Add dietary tags and details
These edits won't be overwritten by sync unless you explicitly accept POS changes.
Common Questions
If I delete an item in my POS, does it delete in Welcome?
No—Welcome keeps items unless you remove them. Sync adds and updates; it doesn't delete.
Can I sync some items but not others?
Yes—during sync, choose which items to import or update.
What if my POS prices are different from what I want on the website?
Edit the prices in Welcome after importing. Future syncs will show the difference, and you choose whether to update.
